Venue - Llanberis Community Centre, Llanberis, Gwynedd. LL55 4UR
Race HQ and Transition Area – this will be at the Llanberis Community Centre next door to the Electric Mountain. Post code is LL55 4UR.
Date - Sunday 19th May 2013.
Start Time - full tri 09.30 am, sprint tri 10.30am . The full tri start will be in waves at 10 minute intervals. All competitors will be given a start time in their final instructions.
There will be a compulsory race safety briefing at the transition area at 08.45 which all competitors must attend.
Facilities – Mens and womens toilets and limited number of showers at Surf Lines shop and Pete's Eats in Llanberis Village.
Car parking – Numerous pay and display car parks in Llanberis. Please make sure you buy a ticket becasue you are very likely to be booked if you don't!
Refreshments - Water will be provided at thetransition area, at Pen-y-Pass on the cycle and approx half way round the run.
Massage - will be provided by the extreme sports therapy unit from Norwich College.
Registration - Registration will take place at the Electric Mountain Visitor Centre, Llanberis. It will open on Saturday 18th May at 12.00 (midday) until 1800 hours, it will reopen on Sunday 19th May at 0630 until 0830. We are encouraging those who can, to register on the Saturday to avoid a rush on Sunday morning. Junior Races – The slateman will be host to the final race in the Dal i Fynd Cross Country Series, in partnership with Gwynedd Sports Developnent and 5x60. This will consist of a cross country/trail run.

Swim
The Full Tri will be a 1000M water swim in Llyn Padarn starting and finishing at the football field adjacent to the Llanberis Community Centre.
The Slateman Sprint will be a 400M open water swim in Llyn Padarn, the start and exit of the swim will be the same for all courses.
Wetsuits will be mandatory.

Bike
The 51km cycle – On road bikes, competitors will turn left out of the field and cycle over the Llanberis pass to Pen-y Gwryd. Turn left here and ride to Capel Curig, where they will turn left and follow the road along the Ogwen Valley to Bethesda. On approaching Bethesda, riders will turn left and follow the minor road through Tregarth to the Glasinfryn crossroads. Another left turn will lead to the Pentir roundabout, left here and climb up to Beran before dropping down to the main road junction in Brynrefail. A final left turn will bring athletes back to Llanberis and return to the transition area.
The 20 km cycle - Slateman Sprint - The beginning of the route is the same as the full tri. Riders will cycle to the top of the Llanberis pass and descend to Pen y Gwryd where they will turn around and retrace their route back over the pass to the transition area in Llanberis. This may only be 20k, but it's challenge to the best riders!

Run
Please note - the beginning of run route passes through the Dinorwig Power Station site, which is private property and closed to the public. Access to this short section is only allowed on the day of the race, so competitors wanting to recce the route should follow the main road to Nant Peris and enter the quarry via the zig zags at the end of Llyn Peris. Thank you for your understanding with this.
The Full 11km run - From the transition athletes will run out of the field and cross the bridge next to the slate museum. A right turn will take runners through the Dinorwig Power Station site and onto the trail along side Llyn Peris to Nant Peris. At the end of the lake, a left turn will lead to a challenging climb up the zig zags to the large viewpoint. From here runners will follow the trail to bus stop quarry, cross the road and re enter the Padarn Country Park. The path leads down to a split where runners will turn right and follow a beautiful trail which ends with a steep climb up to the Fachwen road. Turn left and run down Fachwen for approx 500m where a left turn will take runners back into the country park past Antur Fachwen. Cross the river and climb back up the trail to the Quarry Hospital, then continue along the tarmac lane past Vivian Quarry and return across the bridge to the race finish at the Transition area.
The Sprint 6km run - From the transition athletes will run out of the field and cross the bridge next to the slate museum. At the road runners will run across the road and follow the route to the Quarry Hospital. Just past the hospital runners will turn sharp right and climb approximately 200m to a left turn which climbs up into the Padarn Country Park. This is a gorgeous running trail which meanders uphill to a path junction where runners will keep left and follow a beautiful trail which ends with a steep climb up to the Fachwen road. Turn left and run down Fachwen for approx 500m where a left turn will take runners back into the country park past Menter Fachwen. Cross the river and climb back up the trail to the Quarry Hospital, then continue along the tarmac lane past Vivian Quarry and return across the bridge to the race finish at the Transition area.
Please Note - Compulsory cut off time at Transition 2 (bike to run). Any competitors arriving into TA2 after 2.15pm will only be allowed to continue on the 6km sprint tri run route.
